Welcome!
I am an Assistant Professor of Physics and Astronomy at Butler University, Indianapolis. My main research focus involves the study of compact objects (black holes, neutron stars and white dwarfs) in binary systems. I am a multi-wavelength astronomer, with experience across the entire electromagnetic spectrum. In particular I am passionate about optical, NIR and X-ray astronomy and I am an experienced user of telescopes such as NuSTAR, Swift, Gemini and JWST.
My career in astronomy started at the University of Leeds, where I obtained my Undergraduate degree with integrated Masters. Summer research projects analysing data from the Fermi Gamma-ray Space Telescope gave me a taste for research and led me to apply for PhD projects. I finished my PhD at the University of Southampton under the supervision of Prof. Phil Charles before taking up my first postdoc position at the University of Alberta, working alongside Prof. Craig Heinke. After three years in Edmonton I relocated to Reno, NV to take up my second Postdoc, where I worked alongside Prof. Richard Plotkin.
Over the course of my career my interests have evolved and expanded, please check the Research tab for more information on some my research highlights. For a copy of my CV, click on the CV tab and a downloadable pdf will open in a new tab.
